The students in the Semi-Advanced Course of this school, equivalent to the last three years of high school and the first two years of college, are educated through a five year curriculum to gain the professional skills. There are five departments: Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Dept. of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Dept. of Control Engineering, Dept. of Information and Computer Engineering, and Dept. of Civil Engineering. In addition to these five departments, there are two general education departments common to all students: Dept. of Liberal Arts and Dept. of Natural Sciences. Dept. of Liberal Arts teaches Japanese, sociology, health and physical education, foreign languages, etc. Dept. of Natural Sciences teaches mathematics, physics, and chemistry, etc. The following are the teaching objectives of each department
To develop the students' ability to find and solve problems, so as to be able to respond to the development of systems and to produce products through experiments and manufacturing practices, and through the study of design and drawing, computers, as well as materials, strength of materials, thermo and fluid dynamics, production systems, measuring and control fields.
Electrical and Electronic Engineering
To develop the students' ability to find and solve problems so as to be able to work in the next generation with creativity through the study of electronics, information technology, computer engineering, materials, electrical measurement, control technology, electric machinery, and energy technology.
To develop the students' ability to find and solve problems so as to be able to develop control systems through the study of the fundamental subjects of control engineering, including electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, and information and computer engineering, etc.
Information and Computer Engineering
To develop the students' ability to find and solve problems with a wide-ranging knowledge of information systems through the study of hardware, software and related technologies such as computer interfaces, network communications and control systems.
To develop the students' ability to find and solve the problems, so as to be able to realize comfortable environments and cities to live in, through the study of subjects in Civil Engineering such as structural mechanics, hydraulics, soil mechanics, and information processing, as well as subjects in Environmental Engineering such as environmental river engineering, water environment, and environmental assessment.
To develop student's of a sound mind and body, as well as to enhance the communicative competence in their native language and in English, the sense of ethics and beauty, and the ability to see things from a global viewpoint through the study of Japanese, sociology, health and physical education, and foreign languages, etc.
To develop the student's ability to observe and experiment with a logical mind and practical skills, and to comprehend the theories and principles of the latest science and technology through the study of mathematics, physics, and chemistry, etc.
