The Purpose of Learning and Education in the Semi-Advanced Course
The students are educated to be engineers as cultured members of society who have an independent spirit and a global view. Therefore, the following three are required to become engineers who can contribute in cooperation with others for social progress:
1) Basic scholastic ability and basic engineering knowledge
2) Creativity with practical and active behavior
3) Deep emotion with ethics and beauty in mind
The following four items are the practical objectives to establish this purpose.

1. Humanity Formation
Engineers are required to gain a sound mind and body, and to be well cultured so as to contribute to the society. The three concrete objectives for this are:
(1) To cultivate both mental and physical health and high quality humanity
(2) To acquire a depth of culture sufficient to comprehend society
(3) To understand the responsibility of engineers to affect nature and circumstance

2. Technology and Skill Acquirement
Engineers should understand the theories and principles in their fields and utilize them. The three concrete objectives for this are:
(1) To acquire logical ability on the basis of mathematics and natural sciences
(2) To obtain a deep knowledge and become highly skilled in their major
(3) To have the necessary faculty to produce things through practice and experiments

3. Communicative Competence
Engineers should achieve the ability to express themselves in public in order to succeed in the modern information society. The three concrete objectives for this are:
(1) To acquire the ability to completely describe anything in their native language
(2) To acquire a basic communicative competence in English
(3) To acquire the ability to present, discuss, and debate

4. Creativity
Engineers must create new things on the basis of problem finding and solving. The concrete objective for this is:
(1) To acquire the creativity to find and solve problems through the General Education Seminar in the 3rd year and the Graduation Research in the 5th year
