Regular Course

Regular Course Goals of learning and education

In Regular Course, we offer education for technicians as a sophisticated member of the society, who have a spirit of independence and international point of view as well as listed below:
1) basic academic skills and basic knowledge on engineering
2) flexible imagination and creativity that is based on the actual practice
3) sensitivity to ethical and aesthetic values
In order to train students to be technicians who contribute to the society in collaboration with others by figuring out problems and solving them initiatively, and then we set the goals of learning and education based on the following four points:

1. Character formation
We believe the ideal engineer and technician to perform his/her mission with awareness of his/her responsibility, based on the wide range of liberal arts. They must be good members to contribute to the society by cultivating a healthy body and spirit. To make these goals achievable, we assist admittees:
(1) to cultivate rich humanity and healthy mind and body.
(2) to acquire a great sophistication for the sake of deep understanding of the society and a broader of view.
(3) to understand the impact and effect of technology on the nature and the society, and become conscious of their own responsibility as engineers.

2. Acquisition of knowledge on science and technology
We define the ideal engineer and technician as that who fully understands the scientific and technological theories and principles fundamental to his/her specialties and who tries to utilize them positively. To train such specialists, we assist admittees to acquire the following:
(1) basic knowledge of mathematics and natural science, and ability to think logically using it.
(2) the knowledge and ability of the specialized subjects for their major.
(3) essential skills to manufacturing through experiments and practical training,.

3. Communication skills
We define the ideal engineer and technician that who can accommodate themselves to the advanced information-oriented society and who can give an appropriate expression according to the situation. We assist admittees to acquire the following:
(1) writing skill in Japanese
(2) basic communication skill in English.
(3) literacy of the information technology and ability of presentation and discussion.

4. Creativity
We value such engineers as tackle problems awaiting solution with initiative and innovative creativity. We assist admittees to acquire skills as follow:

(1) ability to demonstrate creativity, to find problems, and to solve them on the basis of knowledge and technology through appropriate general special researches and graduate studies,.

Purposes of education given in each department and academic system

The Regular Course of NITKC consists of five Departments with the aim of providing profound expertise and fostering the skills necessary to careers through education of five consecutive years: Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Department of Control Engineering, Department of Information and Computer Engineering, and Department of Civil Engineering. In addition, each department has common general subjects, which are divided into two categories, i.e. liberal arts including Japanese, social studies, health and physical education, and foreign languages; and fundamental natural sciences including mathematics, physics, and chemistry. The purposes of education in each department and category are illustrated below:

Department of Mechanical Engineering
Our purpose is training the engineers who have knowledge of system development as well as understand techniques for the sake of the creative design required for manufacturing. To do so, we provide students with experiments and practical training, design and drafting education on computer in addition to the basic subjects such as material mechanics, material analysis, and thermal fluid, production systems, measurement and control.
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Our purpose is training technical specialists with high creativity who lead the next-generation industrial society. To do so, we provide students with education related to the foundation of highly technological society at the present time such as electronics, information and communications, computer, materials, measurement and control, electrical equipment and energy.

Department of Control Engineering
Our purpose is training engineers who can accommodate themselves to the development of the control system. To do so, we provide students with education in a wide range of basic subjects such as electrical engineering, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, information processing engineering, and computer engineering concentrating the control engineering.

Department of Information and Computer Engineering
Our purpose is training engineers with knowledge of overall information processing system. To do so, we provide students with education mainly in computer hardware and software technology which is basic to technology of information processing, along with the related fields such as interface technology and information communication technology and control technology.

Department of Civil Engineering
Our purpose is training the engineers that can meet the demands for the conservation of the natural environment and for construction of the safe and comfortable cities. We provide students with education in environmental engineering such as water environment engineering and ecological engineering, in addition to the basic subjects such as structural mechanics, hydraulics, soil mechanics, surveying, and information processing.

Liberal Arts
We set the aim to foster the basic skills appropriate to a sophisticated member of society. The students will obtain communication skills in Japanese and especially in English, an international perspective, sensitivity to the ethical and aesthetic values through education in Japanese, social studies, health and physical education, and foreign languages, etc., by developing the physical and mental discipline simultaneously.

Natural Sciences
Through the basic education of general subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and introduction of specialized education in natural sciences, the students will gain ability for a logical thinking and skills in experimentation and observation, and capacity for understanding theories and principles essential to the latest science and technology.
